Looks like those people who have already had an MI benefit from a baby aspirin a day.  But those with significant risk factors (such as a high calcium score), w/o an "event" as of yet, it is a matter of debate.  Certainly those at high risk for a gastric ulcer shouldn't take a baby aspirin.  But what about the rest?

I run an aspirinworks....checks for the urinary metabolite for "sticky platelets", platelets which would be more likely to precipitate a clot when exposed to "toxic waste" exploding from a vulnerable plaque.  If the platelets are sticky, if appropriate, I will suggest a baby aspirin a day.

Here's a recent summary from the North American Menopause Society:

http://www.menopause.org/pp_aspirin.pdf

What do you think?  Do you take a baby aspirin?

I take the baby aspirin.  I am 47 with a stent and CAC in the 99.999th percentile for my age.  I am probably moving the curve for others LOL.

I always heard it is better to be a bleeder than a clotter.

I don't take it because it causes a very painful burning sensation around my sternum.  Even the enteric stuff.  My score is hundreds above the 99.9% :-(

I'm still taking it but planning to get the Health Diag. Labs ApirinWorks test, and will decide whether to drop it then.

I'm 52 and also a member of the 90% club -- 218.

Does aspirin affect Hemoglobin AC1 tests?

I just recently heard that daily baby aspirin use is also associated with eventual macular degeneration - any comments on this?  http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/10/07/aspirin-macular-degeneration_n_992603.html

So, I have performed 400 Health Diagnostic Tests to date.  Alot of couch potatos have elevated aspirinworks.  My fit athletes on a TYP type program often have a normal aspirinworks test although they are NOT on aspirin.
