LABS have a sweet spot.  "Not to high and not too low".

The second hardest thing for newbies to understand is their labs.

I’ll agree that most MD’s are grossly ill-prepared to talk about nutrition, but they’re pretty good on labs.
Health nuts are great on nutrition, but they’re horribly ill-prepared to look at labs.

Patients are ill-prepared because THEY HAVE NO CLINICAL EXPERIENCE.
And that’s fine.  You’re not SUPPOSED to have any clinical experience.
That’s where your doctor comes in.
Once a doctor sees 10,000 labs, and saw how the patient did at that lab value (renal function, etc), then they have some feel of what humans can tolerate.

Oh but there again, how many doctors even have a good feel for CRP levels?  Darn few.

This is where being undoctored falters and flourishes.
If you’re gonna run labs, they’re worthless if you don’t know what they mean...and "What you SHOULD DO about them".
For many people a lab that’s slightly "above normal" is just fine.

What’s the "normal" blood pressure for a 90 year old?  110/60?  120/60? 140/60??  Don’t know.
There’s a sweet spot for every human at every age.
For a 90 year old it’s basically, "Enough blood pressure to give your brain enough oxygen to think, but not so much it damages your kidneys".  That’s pretty fuzzy.
But when 90 year olds try to have the labs of 30 year olds..things get iffy.

Again the body has infinite wisdom, and if as many damaging things are taken away, and basic nutrition is given...the body will find it’s own perfect level.

So what’s the take home message?  View your labs with a "soft eye".  Meaning you don’t FREEK OUT because something is not normal.
I remember one subscriber here ran a super experimental blood test which was high and like couldn’t sleep for days.
Even the hematologist didn’t know what what to do with the lab value or what it meant.  Oy..

Lab values may be perfect FOR YOU, but not me.  Usually the body will know something’s out of line and try to correct it to maintain homeostasis.  The body is ALWAYS seeking homeostasis (health).

I think they’d be easier to understand if they added a bell curve.  That way you can SEE where your values fit.
