I am taking 2.5mg three times a week of Crestor. Have been for a few years. If I don’t take, small particles and total cholesterol are way high. I am Apoe 3/4. I heard some say this is a "normal" dose, and anything more is over and above. Recently, I lowered by CoQ10 dose, and after a few weeks, go terrible pains in both calves which were resolved by upping the COq10 dose. Statins are nasty but necessary? I’ve seen the back and forth on this in the forums.
I was researching stem cells, and saw this video where Mel Gibson said, after several treatments I think (at $25K plus each), that all of his caratoid plaque was "dissolved". The link below is an infomercial for the clinic in Panama where Gibson went for the treatment.

LCL posted this in 2017 regarding statins and stem cells. I don’t know how to link the post, but the related research is below.
.
The Impact of Statins on Biological Characteristics of Stem Cells
https://www.physiology.org/doi/pdf/10.1152/ajpcell.00406.2014
I found that interesting as it seems to say that the statins effect how stem cells work in the arterial plaque area reducing atherosclerotic events and cardiovascular mortality, but screw up just about everything else in the body as it reduces the effectiveness of stem cells/DNA repair mechanisms to do their job. As LCL suggested, be nice to have someone interpret this article.
As a side note, the nurse for my back surgeon mentioned she thought that in 15 years, many back surgeries would be replaced by stem cell treatments. I saw the post about the stem cell researcher using them for the heart that was debunked for faking results. I hope he is an outlier and that this technology will come to fruition.

Malcolm,
That is one of the most well executed and concise videos debunking the cholesterol/statin connection to heart disease that I’ve ever seen. His explanation and breakdown of the various studies is riveting. Great find!
