Wonder why my GFR went down so much as well, and when you think about both diets eliminate processed foods and sugar so they really aren’t that different

For the elevated A1C’s, have you considered an insulin sensitizing medication such as metformin or perhaps R-alpha lipoic acid supplementation?

I’ve heard that supplementing with chromium (preferably chromium polynicotinate) can help as well with glucose control.

I’ve used it, never saw a difference

Maybe the going off the statin has increased my inflammation ....Seeing cardiologist October although that’s pretty much a waste of time and money...The office even called in a panic almost, your TG went up  to 100 and your LDL is very high

Thats why I still keep my statin despite what people here is saying. I use it to reduce inflammatonand stabilizing the plaque. Adding metformin may be good too. Still low carb.

Some doctors prefer to check the c-peptide levels for the insulin, not only  Hb1Ac.

Also make sure you are monitoring your water intake. Getting the slightest bit dehydrated can affect kidney health when you already have damage. I know this from experience.
