Since 2011, I have worked to improve my  very high cholesterol numbers (TC-270) beginning with a membership in TYP and diet/lifestyle changes after reading Wheat Belly. I tried it all, gave up grains, switched to Paleo, an achieved some  gains, then eventually had a drop in my CAC score but still could never achieve great numbers through all the ups and downs of numerous health challenges. However, this July, I started strictly Keto (lots of fat and protein) and no more that 20 carbs per day with absolutely no sugar and heres the results just in:

Total cholesterol-164
HDL-61
LDL-90
TRIGs-64

i am blown away. No, I do not take statins. In my mind, sugar is the offender. Of course, eliminating grains, taking the supplements, etc all helped but sugar was the final trap for me—it was sugar all along.
Oh sure, you have to do it all—the whole program—all the recommendations, but you can’t pick and choose. Heath is complex in this fast food world. There isn’t a magic wand. The necessary steps must be meticulously executed. It’s been a slog these last eight years. I have serious damage to my heart and lungs now as a result of an autoimmune disease, the beginnings of which appeared in 2011 but simply didn’t know what it was. I am fighting that disease now, but I have won that lipids battle. Many thanks to Dr Davis, TYP/Cureality, and all the members. Sure hope low cholesterol won’t kill me.

Upward and onward,

cj

ps:

H1c was 4.3

Yes, it is unwise, in my view, to remain chronically ketotic. It would be a shame to see your basic lipid numbers deteriorate due to the inevitable dysbiosis of ketosis.
