The link below contains NMR test results for this year and last year. Also includued is a list of my prescriptions, supplements and descriptions of my diet and exercise routine. You will note that my LDL-P has increased in the last year to over 2,000. Some other numbers are not so good also. Last spring I reported that my heart calcium scan scores have stabilized as has the size of my ascending aortic aneurysm. Of course, that was as of last February. I will repeat the heart scan this coming February which should show if the raised LDL-P is significant for me. I also note that I am Apo ¾.

A possible explanation for the changes is that we have moved to a senior living community, first to a satellite apartment building and soon to the main campus. We have been eating our dinners at the main dining room on the main campus. The food is very good. As a result I have gained about 5 pounds, but have leveled off at about 149 lbs. I am about 71.5 in tall after losing about an inch in recent years and I am 86 years old. My diet remains no-grain restricted carb and my blood sugar is under control. My A1c is around 5.4. I suspect that the food I have eating has included way too much saturated fat as I have usually been having at least two servings of meat of some sort with each dinner. Fish of some sort is almost always part of the meal, but always something else is also available. I have begun to cut back on the main meat dishes in hopes of losing a little weight and cutting saturated fat.

Another factor may be stress. My wife has been diagnosed with dementia and that is getting worse, it seems by the week. Her short-term memory is very bad and it frustrates her. Yet she gets upset if I try to do to much for her.  I am becoming her caregiver with the stress that goes with that role. Possibly as a result my BP when measured in our PCP’ office was 180/80. Yet after exercise my BP can be as low as 100/60. My PCP has recommended that I see an integrative medicine group too see if they can teach me to relax. I have used meditation and simple relaxation exercises with success in the past. My first appointment is December 9, so we shall see.

Is it possible that increased stress can raise LDL-P or is the raise most likely a result of the change in my diet?

Why are you taking tetracycline?  Isn’t that an antibiotic?

Is L. reuteri 30242 just for targeted therapy or would it benefit the general population here?

You’ve gotta be the most enlightened 86 year old I’ve ever seen.

Are you really 86, or is that a typo?

What are your goals for your life?

You’re awesome.

Even now, I would guess you’ve already outlived 90% of your high school class.

I believe you will make it to India and Antarctica.
