Should I just buy the cheap grain fed cow’s milk at the store?  Or should I pick up some grass fed whole milk somewhere?  If so, where do I get that and which is a good brand?   Should I go for raw milk, there is a dairy about 25 miles from here with raw, unpasteurized milk.. need to check with them to see if their cows are grain or grass fed.

Half-and-half is not a common designation here. What does it mean? And what’s the difference for making reuterii yoghurt?

Half and half is like a mix of heavy cream and whole milk.. a fattier version of whole milk.  I am guessing it’d make it thicker from the fat?

I use Kemps half and half. They make two different kinds. Pasteurized and Ultra-Pasteurized. I use the Pasteurized. It is not organic but contains only cream and milk. No hormones. It gives me a great thick yogurt. It is also cheaper.
