Wow this is amazing.  I just watched a video Ivor Cummins linked in another thread.  Dr. Bill Blanchet MD advocates flossing every day to reduce calcium score.

https://youtu.be/qxTIxwfCoGQ?list=PL6RAQyX0He00LlPQjDs5femudm2TN9iwo&t=1545

I do better than flossing, I use the waterpick.. which jets out all the bacteria between gums and teeth.. whereas in my opinion flossing compacts some of the bacteria down more in between the gums and teeth -- the pockets are rounded at the bottom and when you think about it, the floss is a straight line ( a jet stream of water gets down in the pocket with ease getting all of the bacteria out).

I’ve waterpicked for 10 years.. so maybe that’s why I have a CAC 0 score despite being type 2 diabetic for years with A1C of 9-10% (up until 3 1/2 years ago before I switched to ancestral diet -- A1C 5.0-5.2% now).

There are some days I forget to waterpick; guess I wont’ be missing any more days.  I imagine if the bacteria can cause calcium to be deposited in the arteries, it probably raises inflammation / cortisol in general, worsening my blood glucose and insulin resistance -- which I am trying to fully reverse.

I’ve flossed daily for 48 years (and for the last 10-15 years do it after every meal) and see absolutely no correlation with my plaque - which went up A LOT and then kept steady, but hasn’t regressed yet.  Keeps my teeth clean, though!

LCL, what are your margins when you see dentist? 1-2mm?  I get 1-2mm with waterpick and much worse with dental floss (2-5mm).

No bleeding the vast majority of the time.  My gums are healthy.  Just receding.

HeartHawk, can you post the link to the interview here in this thread so I can see it when it’s available? Very interested.
