It’s been 10 weeks since I doubled my Vitamin D3 intake.  Should I test now or wait a couple more weeks?  I was taking 5000 IU but now 11,000 IU.  Previous 25 D Hydroxy was 38.4 ng/mL.

Maybe wait a few more weeks till you’re at an even 3 months on the new dose. Even then, I wouldn’t raise again till after 6 months. I’ve had higher doses sneak up on me over time. The elimination half-life is 15 days, so turnover is slow.

Dr. Davis, my new endo said it takes like a year for 25 D Hydroxy levels to change and that’s why insurance only allows one test per year.   I knew she didn’t know what she was talking about.. I knew it was 2-3 months.
