Dr. Davis wrote a good article on reducing blood pressure using natural methods. Dr. Davis
mentioned that elimination of wheat and cornstarch resulted in blood pressure reductions of 20-40 mm Hg . http://www.lef.org/magazine/mag2010/mar2010_Reduce-Blood-Pressure-Naturally_01.htm 

Dr. Mark Houston from the Hypertension Institute in Nashville Tennessee described various methods of reducing high blood pressure and these are listed below.


4-5 kg weight loss lowered blood pressure 7/5 mg mercury where 7 was the systolic pressure (top number) reduction and 5  was the diastolic pressure (bottom number) reduction.
In general, systolic blood pressure reduction was 1.6 mm mercury for each kilogram of body fat lost and diastolic blood pressure reduction was 1.1 mm mercury per kilogram of body fat lost.

Exercise can lower systolic blood pressure by an average 10-15 mm of mercury and diastolic blood pressure by 5-10 mm of mercury (Hg). Dr.Houston recommends 40 minute of resistance exercises and 20 minutes of interval training three or four days a week.

4.5 grams of potassium lowers BP by 8.0/4.1 mm Hg

Magnesium is a natural calcium channel blocker and lowers systolic blood pressure by 8 mm Hg and diastolic blood pressure by between 3.8 and 7.6 mm Hg .

High protein 1.0-1.5 gm/kg/day is a natural ACE inhibitor. Sardine protein is one example. 30 gm hydrolysed whey protein per day reduced BP 11/7 mm Hg within 7 days. and 20 gms reduced BP 8/5 mm Hg in 6 weeks.

3-4 gms DHA and EPA per day lowers BP 8/5mm Hg.

30-40 gms extra virgin olive oil reduced BP 8/6 mm Hg.

500 mg olive leaf extract twice a day reduced BP  11.5/4.8mm in 8 weeks.

Kyolic aged garlic 600 mg twice a day reduced systolic BP 10.2 mm in 12 weeks.

Seaweed Wakame 3.3 gms/day reduced BP 14/5 mm

Vitamin C  250 mg twice a day reduced BP 7/4 mm

Vitamin D .  Raising 25-vitamin D by 180% reduced BP by 6/6 mm

Vitamin B6 5 mg/kg body weight/day for 4 weeks lowered BP by 14/10 mm Hg. Some people can't tolerate that much B6.

Dark chocolate  100 gms  a day for 15days reduced systolic BP by 6.4 mm Hg but there was no change in diastolic BP.

Lycopene  20 mg/day reduced BP 10/5mm Hg

Coenzyme Q10   17/10 mm Hg but only 50% of people respond

Alpha Lipoic Acid 200mg plus 500mg Acetyl –L- Carnitine 9 mm Hg systolic only

Taurine 4-6 gm/day reduced BP 9/4 mm Hg

Pycnogenol 200 mg/day reduced BP by 7/2mm Hg

Resveratrol   100-200 mg/day reduced central blood pressure 7/5mm Hg

Green Coffee Bean Extract 100-150mg/day  5.6/3.9 mm Hg

Grape Seed Extract 150-300 mg  reduced BP 11/8 mm Hg in 4 weeks

Pomegranate Seeds lowered systolic BP by 5-12 mm Hg

Melatonin        3-6 mg /day   6/4 mm Hg

Sesamin ( sesame seed extract) 60mg reduces BP  by 3.5/1.9mm Hg

Celery seed extract  reduced blood pressure by 8.2/8.5 mm Hg

Flax Seed Oil reduced blood pressure by 15/7 mm Hg in people with systolic BP above 140 mm Hg.

It is not known what the blood pressure reduction would be if a person used a lot of these methods.

In my experience, pomegranate acts as a natural ace inhibitor. My husband uses it; it lowers his diastolic bp, but I haven't seen an impact on systolic bp.

Reducing carbohydrates helps lower BP - the carbs evidently cause the retention of sodium..

Magnesium and arginine will do more than the rest combined..

Beak, the thing about adding the milk of magnesia to club soda is that the two react and turn the magnesium into magnesium bicarbonate, which is highly absorable.  The magnesium in MOM is not.

The Cureality diet and supplements recommended by Dr. Davis have enabled me to reduce my dose of Olmetec (Benicar) by 50% and metoprolol by 25%. I have to keep taking the metoprolol beta blocker to prevent atrial fibrillation unfortunately.
