Hi TYP peeps!

Well, I have started a brand new fresh thread for my husband. I have filled out the dashboard for him. We have some test results back. NMR and CAC will be coming. And, then we will go from there with the testing.

I will display below his traditional Lipid Panel from May 2015, as well as his recent Lipid Panel from Jan 2017.

He had ran out of Blood Pressure medication (Lisinopril 20mg) and therefore stopped taking it. I was able to get him back on his medication last Monday. He has been working out cross-training with high blood pressure! His doctor wants to see him back in 3 weeks, and I suspect he is going to want to increase his dose. I am hoping that getting his Vitamin D level up will help with the blood pressure issue, and perhaps he can hold off on increasing his dose. I have homework to do regarding the causes of high blood pressure. I had assumed it was most likely due to his high fasting insulin, except that has come down dramatically and he still has high blood pressure.

Regarding the most recent testing below, I am pleasantly surprised by his APOB results. Is this result affected by fasting? I know his result is not optimal, but I was expecting it to be much higher. I know that at the minimum he needs to supplement Vitamin D3, as well as Vitamin K2.

May, 2015 Lipid Panel
Total 212
HDL 31
LDL 137
TRIG 220
VLDL 44
TRIG/HDL 7.10
INSULIN 55.2 (June 2015)
GLUCOSE 109 (Feb 2015)

Jan 9, 2017 Lipid Panel - 15+ hour fast
Total 235
HDL 38
LDL 169.2
TRIG 132
VLDL 27.8
TRIG/HDL 3.5
APOB 116
hs-CRP 3.04
INSULIN 13.2
GLUCOSE 87
A1C 5.3
VITAMIN D3 17.6

*began cross-training 3x / wk
*has made an effort to reduce carbs
*he no longer eats before bed
*Age: 45
*He has lost approx 15 lbs recently

History:

My husband was put on high dose Simvastatin back in 2009. He had side effects from the medication, so he went off it. Taking the statin greatly reduced his LDL (67 from 128), reduced his HDL (22 from 32), but increased his trigs (321 from 235).

My husband really wants to stay away from statins, especially the Lipitor-class. He mentioned to his doctor about trying Crestor, but his doctor appeared reluctant and did not respond to his request. His doctor is a family physician, and was put off by my being proactive. When I requested the additional blood tests, he said to me "are you a doctor?" I responded "no, but I'm the wife... so I'm way up there." At least he seemed to get a chuckle out of my response.

I would appreciate any feedback that I can share with my husband. He has made improvements but I know it is not enough. Some direction and encouragement would help him a lot! Thank you!!

APOB without APOA-1 is meaningless

Quoted From Mav:

> HDL 31

Red flag. Sounds like exercise has improved this. How many cardio minutes per week? Has he found an activity that's easy to stick with? Any secrets he wants to share?

On non-drinking days I have time for the gym. The revolution of Dr. Davis is that he was getting fat while working out. Human history does not include sitting on our butts all day. And Dr. Davis has documented how people used to be thin.

Well, the doctor had agreed to test ABOB and looking at our insurance claims, we will be getting a bill for nearly $500 for uncovered testing. I have to figure out if I can fight it. Talk about inflated cost. I'm furious! Live and learn.
