I'm trying to recommit to my own version of cureality. My own, meaning, I know I'll never be perfect, but I try to stay as close to 50-70 grams net carbs daily. Get my exercise, limit sugar which I am one of many who are addicted to. I have to have some balance in my life and to live without enjoying my favorite foods ON OCCASION, is just not enjoyable. Maybe I'm not serious enough about this, some may think. But I think we all need to do what we need to do to live a balanced life.

so one of my issues is sugar. Two things....

over the last 4-5 m0nths I've had lots of stress from an illness my wife is going through. And I've resorted to more than my share of sugar. What's interesting, is before this happened, and when my blood work was really good and my diet was great, (haven't done blood work in 5 months, but it's coming up), I LWAYS HAD BLOOD glucose in the morning, if 108-115. and around 85 in the late afternoon when I got home from work. But my hba1c was below 5, every time.

now the last 4-5 months I haven't tested. Yesterday I started testing again, and fully expected higher numbers. So in two days, my morning fasting BG was 98 and 101. Still not great,  but better than the "worse" that I expected. And the afternoon readings, each day after a lunch of salad, with olive oil, were 75 and 81.
any comments on this "anamoly "?


second, I need an eduction on sugar. Specifically, what's the difference between consuming a considerable amount of fruit every day, I.e. Natural sugar, FA added sugar, like ice cream, milk chocolate , etc.
serious question. I enjoy an apple every evening, it doesn't satisfy my craving for sweets completely, but it goes a long way. And some nights I'll also have some melon, or strawberries And blueberries, with stevia.

a Delicious Apple has a lot of sugar, and carbs. And fiber, but not a ton. So is it healthy? Or isn't it.

Pratoman,
The way to simplify it for me is to focus on what I can eat and not worry so much about what I shouldn't eat or why.  Then just keep the good foods in the house.  Will power not a big deal then.
