I didn’t know. I really didn’t know.
NOW...I know.
I’m sitting here with diagnosed diverticulitis. First time ever.

Quick background: Female, 50...got my act together on June 1st and went low to almost zero carb some days. Yep felt great all summer, was walking every day - the weight was melting off. Went from 235 to 200 from June 1st to Sept. 3.

It literally came out of nowhere last Tuesday (it’s Sunday now). I have tears rolling down my face and I’m just floored. I’ve read SO MUCH the past 5 days trying to figure it out, where do I go from here and understanding that now...MY GUT FLORA WAS COMPLETELY MESSED UP from being so strictly keto, nevermind to damage I did the past few decades. NOW???

Now it’s really messed up taking Cipro/Flagyl.

I joined the inner circle hoping to find some posts about what to do RIGHT NOW while I’m still on these horrible antibiotics...which I even question now. Diveticulitis was found on the CT scan with contrast, BUT I never had a fever, just pain and bloating/tenderness on left side. Sent home with antibiotics and told to watch for high fever. These meds are almost as bad if not worse than the original pain.

If anyone has some suggestions as to what to do RIGHT NOW...that would be great. I am drinking bone broth, kefir two hours before antibiotics and just added in an egg, and some chicken today.

I’m mapping out the supplements and understanding the probiotics/pre regimen. Still have to read and learn more about SIBO. Need to FIND a GI dr. to follow up with as I"m sure a colonoscopy is in my near future since I’m 50 and now this.

This just sucks. Huge wake up call.

Thank you so much for your detailed reply.  It has confirmed my thoughts and pointed me in the direction I knew I was headed.

Lots to take in and many changes to make. One step at a time.
