My wife and I were talking about the things we’ve seen from dying patients.
Mind you, my wife is the MOST HARD CORE doctor on Earth.
Marine Corps drill instructors would think she was, "Born again hard".
She’s watched, now, a couple thousand people die. She was talking about a few times when people die, she saw a "mist" float up from the body, go up to the ceiling, and then "poof", gone.
She’s talked about people who she’s ’coded’ for like 45 minutes, with no heart beat, then after like a gallon of epinephrine, the heart beat comes back. The next day she’ll ask them "What they saw?". Most will say it was very beautiful, warm, loving. Sometimes they will say it was cold and black (maybe like deep space).
There was a little boy once, who was accidentally shot in the chest by his little brother. Playing with a gun, they thought was a toy...but it wasn’t. The trauma surgeon cracked the little boy’s chest right in the ER. The surgeon thought there was nothing left to do and left. My wife was left there to watch him die. She said his heart stopped and she saw a "mist" float up from his chest, go up to the ceiling and disappear.
She was in the Peace Core in Malaysia. Her and her friends came across a Malaysian woman on the road. The woman was carrying a dead baby. My wife stopped and told the woman the baby was dead. My wife looked across the dirt road and saw a young boy, maybe 5-6 years old. She said he disappeared after a few seconds.
I, myself, was watching a young black man die of AIDS. His Aunt and Mother were there. He was so thin, I could see his carotid pulse through his paper thin skin. His heart rate started to slow. Beat....beat...............beat...................... And then he was gone. I told his mother he’s gone. I didn’t see anything. No mist. No tearing asunder. Just complete quiet.
I’ve had several other experiences in the hospital, where I became close to people, and then they were gone. It’s a very strange experience.
I’m in that phase of my life where I’m more interested in that. When we’ve talked to people who we’ve coded and come back, Buddist people tend talk about Budda. Hindu people talk about Khrishna. Christians people talk about Jesus.

This was such an interesting thread to find as we were hearing on the news these last few days total numbers of Covid deaths in the US. Wonder if all the doctors/nurses have commented elsewhere on such phenomena? I’ll have to search.
