Anyone here taking both ezetimibe?  I take a low-dose statin (5mg Crestor) primarily for its pleiotropic effects (e.g. inflammation lowering).  It routinely have LDL in the 70-100mg/dL range and, more importantly, my LDL particle number (both small and large) is low <200, <1000 respectively).

I recently (about a year ago) stopped 1000mg of Niaspan to address my rising HbA1c (stopping it help knock it down from 5.7% to 5.3%) but added 10mg ezetimibe to address my sterol hyperabsorption.

My insurance company had me do a physical to get a price break so they did some blood testing.  Curiously my Total C and LDL-C have dropped precipitously.  Here are my fasting values as of 1/6/2020.

Total C: 114 mg/dL

LDL-C (calculated): 35mg/dL

HDL: 70 mg/dL

TG: 43 mg/dL

That is far and away the lowest LDL number I have ever experienced.  Admittedly, these values are from a suspect Friedewald test but, yikes, that’s low!  I’m due to have my advanced lipoproteins done in about 1 month so I look forward to see what a more precise test shows.

Anyone else have experience with ezetimibe?

HH

Then perhaps ezetimibe should be included in the UD protocol, for those without SIBO. But I’ve learned my lesson.

heard somewhere that the half-life of rosuvastatin is around 30 hours, and many people are obtaining more reasonable numbers by taking rosuvastatin 5 mg twice a week, like Monday and Thursday

Are you sure you want to take ezetimibe and a statin?

Quoted From Wagmore: BTW, it’s Dr. Malcolm Kendrick that talked me into stopping my statin.

You mean via his book, or in person?

His book....very eye opening and informative. It is amazing how this low cholesterol hypothesis came about and took hold in spite of a tremendous amount of contrary data.
